A Baby for All Seasons

Here's Aria dressed in a very unlikely ensemble of a swimsuit, leggings, and a fleece hat! We purchased these items at Bellingham Baby Company with a gift certificate my sister Lisa sent Aria for Christmas. We've taken Aria swimming at our local pool several times now, and plan to have her take some lessons soon. Photo taken January 3, 2009.

First tooth!

Aria's first tooth is starting to come in! No photo because so far it's not sticking up enough to see. It's the front tooth on the lower right. Hopefully it will show up in photos in the not too distant future.

Prunes 'n' Oatmeal

Here's a little movie capturing an everyday moment: feeding time. Besides "Prunes 'n' Oatmeal", Aria loves plain oatmeal, bananas, pears, peaches, prunes, peas, carrots, and sweet potatoes. We had to try several times before she would eat peas, but now she loves them. She still thinks squash is gross. She also eats little pieces of graham cracker, cereal, pasta and other tidbits she can mash with her gums -- still no teeth! That plus breast milk five or six times a day and formula as needed. Yum! Aria monkeys around

Mommy, Daddy and Aria visited an art fair just before Christmas - the same one where Aria got to sit on Santa's lap. While Mommy was performing music, Daddy and Aria wandered around the fair. That's when we came across these fun animal hats. Most of the hats were too big for Aria but this monkey hat sort of fit. Photo taken December 13, 2008.

Karen's birthday present

I just had my fifty-first birthday, and I got a camcorder!!! So, I got busy and took a video of me, Ted, and Aria walking in Whatcom Falls Park. The trail to the park starts two blocks from our house, and we are so lucky to be able to walk (or ski, weather permitting) in this beautiful park several days each week. Aria's flower painting

Mommy and Daddy and Aria painted a flower together. Mommy and Daddy painted Aria's feet with green finger paint and then placed each one on a piece of paper to make the petals of the flower. We then painted the stem of the flower. Next, we painted Aria's left hand orange and placed it on the paper to make a flower. Since Aria said she was done we stopped there. It was a new experience for all of us. Picture painted Dec. 29, 2008.
