Aria's Porcupine Halloween

Aria the porcupine had a great Halloween. The video shows the creation of a porcupine, which took Mom a couple of weeks of work, then the porcupine dance as the costume was nearly finished, and finally the big night. Videos Oct. 29 and 31, 2011.

Where did I get the idea? From Aria, of course! About a month before Halloween she said she wanted to be a porcupine, and she never wavered from that vision. At first I thought I'd attach pipe cleaners to a jacket for quills, but Aria was afraid they might poke her, so I came up with the idea of soda straws. They wouldn't stick with glue, so I sewed them on.

This beats any of granneys hand made costumes for Amber. When she was Three she wanted to be Batman. I to sewed for a month straight ,working everyday sewing by hand very muscle and made a Bat moblie out of cardboard to fit over the wagon to pull her. We went to be in a parade and they told Granney she was to young, they did not know me very well, Amber lead the parade with her fans yelling Batman from the sidelines. She was in the paper as well. Those cuts and blisters were worth everything to see her smile. Aria that was a great idea, Karen you did a fabulous job. You are so creative. The memories you will always have thinking about the time she was three and was a porcupine. Love you sweetie. Thank you Karen for the post I was excited to have a photo of her in costume.
